Warsash Pier

Extensive remedial work to the existing pier which was suffering from severe corrosion to the primary steel elements, damage to the concrete walkway sections, and degradation to the existing timber piles and facing timbers to the pier head. Works undertaken included the complete jet blasting of the entire pier, a complex task given its location in a Site of Specific Scientific Interest meaning that extensive scaffolding to allow the complete containment of operations was required. Additional works included: the lifting and refixing of sections of dislodged concrete walkway, removal and replacement of the damaged timber piles by barge, and the introduction of new steelwork to arrest the dynamic movement of the pier that had begun to develop.
