Tom Marshall

Graduate Structural Engineer

Tom first started at WFBA in 2015 as a summer intern after completing his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Cardiff University. During the two-month internship, he worked on a number of different projects and was able to gain a good introduction to the working engineering world.

He went back to Cardiff for a year to complete his Master’s Degree, finishing with a Merit grade. Tom then re-joined WFBA as a graduate structural engineer in September 2016. Since then he has contributed to a wide range of projects, varying in size and complexity. These jobs have included the structural design of many residential properties, both new builds and alterations to existing houses. He has also worked on larger commercial projects such as warehouses, restaurants, a pedestrian bridge and some McCarthy & Stone retirement developments.

He possesses growing skills in structural design, with both steelwork and concrete, expanding on what he learned while at university. He has also gained a quick understanding of the latest modelling software and has begun early work towards his term goal of a chartered structural engineer.
